Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is well-known for his sharp-edged character or wisecracking characters in action films. He has appeared in more than $2.5 billion worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis was born March 19, 1955 in Idar-Oberstein (West Germany) to Marlene Kassel and David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point New Jersey), both of them living at the United States military base. The family moved to the U.S. soon after he was born. Willis was born in Penns Grove by his mother working at the bank, while his father, a welder, was a factory worker and welder. Willis was interested in drama during high school. While working at an New York City café, the cafe was "discovered". He then went on to appear in a variety of off-Broadway shows. One night, Willis was serving drinks and was noticed by a casting supervisor who liked his personality. He was in need of bartenders for one small part in a film. Willis was a part of countless auditions before finding the role in the romantic comedy of the same name, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. His humorous and wisecracking P.I. can be seen as an opportunity to practice for the role of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster-movie Die Hard (1988), in the film, Willis' character single-handedly battled an uncompromising gang of international thieves inside the Los Angeles skyscraper. In Die Hard 2 (1990), he reprised the character. The group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers is trying to get back an evil South American general. They are set in Washington's Dulles International Airport. The film's excellent sales at the box office led to an sequel to Die Hard with the same vengeance (1995). This time, Samuel L. Jackson starred as a shrewd Harlem shopkeeper who was not aware of the fact that he was required to help McClane during a terrorist attack on a scorching New York City day.
